Calm during chaos, is that even possible?

I mean it’s been a crazy few years hasn’t it?

Viruses and lockdowns have really taken their toll on so many of us.

It’s left many feeling anxious and let’s be honest, that’s not a healthy place to be ….

I just wanted to share a few things with you that will hopefully help you feel calm during chaos.

This doesn’t just apply to the last few years, but during anytime in your life.

Let me just say that nobody’s life is perfect all the time.

We all go through difficult times.

I do believe that these 8 ways will help you in keeping your calm during chaos!

Here’s just a few things to remember to try and keep calm when you’re feeling anxious, stressed and overwhelmed.

Maintain Your Routine .. or create a new one given the circumstances.  A routine helps us stay focused on what needs doing and what we can do, rather than what is beyond our control.

Take a Break .. with that routine make sure you take regular breaks, take a walk outside, clear your head breathe in some fresh air.  Just whatever it takes to clear your head.

Slow Down and Breathe .. have a cup of tea or a coffee but just sit and relax in the moment, listen to the sounds around you and take a couple of deep breaths. .

Identify and Manage Your Stress Points .. if listening to the news and the barrage of negative information stresses you, then turn it off and listen to something calming.  Check in occasionally, obviously to keep updated, but find another source that doesn’t send your stress levels skyrocketing.

Call for a Timeout .. If you need time out, then take it.  Put yourself in the corner if you need to!  Set boundaries for yourself and others.

Keep Perspective .. this too shall pass.  Nothing stays the same, focus on what you can do in your world, remember things are constantly changing, both good and bad.  With every ending there’s a new beginning.

Control What You Can Control .. and with that, when things get out of your control, let them go. All you can control in any given situation is the way that you react to things, that’s all you can change and all you can control.

Smile .. it won’t just make you feel better but it will help others who receive it as well.
