It’s the beginning of a new year and I just wanted to share with you what I’ve learnt over the past couple of years from Covid-19.

We’ve been locked down, allowed out with masks, locked down again and back to being allowed out with masks.

While I’m aware that it’s been incredibly difficult for some people, here’s what I’ve learnt.

  • I’m a full-on introvert and love my own company, it doesn’t bother me at all being ‘stuck’ at home. Having said that I’m also aware that I sometimes need to force myself out.
  • My husband and I in semi-retirement and thrown together in lockdown actually do love being together! Which is a good thing because we’ve been together for 25 years.
  • Now that we’re allowed out, some places are just too peopley, I try and avoid them where possible but sometimes I can’t.
  • I know who my friends are as they kept in contact with me and me with them.
  • Zoom is a great feature
  • I’ve seen the community I live in pitch in together to try and help each other.
  • I’ve also seen the worst in humanity as well and that’s really sad, seeing the selfishness in people.
  • I’ve found that neighbours are more friendly and checking in on each other, our neighbour has cancer and while she’s off having chemo we’ve had her husband for dinner.
  • I hope that they never remove the shopping trolley wipes because I really like those
  • Wearing a mask saves on make-up
  • That you can be incredibly productive in lock-down, but you need the motivation to do it.
  • I’ve had a lot more time to focus on my health and have actually been implementing things.
  • I have far too much shit and have been selling / giving it away and there’s still more to go.
  • Facebook Marketplace is brilliant to get rid of things or even if you want to purchase something.
  • I’ve majorly reduced my use of single use plastic.
  • That we bought a campervan and travelled for 5 weeks around Queensland, it gave me an appreciation for the different places we went and for the amazing people that we met.
  • I could actually live in a tiny house.
  • I totally love nature, seeing koalas, kangaroo’s with joeys, swans and signets, it’s all beautiful and amazing.
  • I’ve learnt to take the time to actually smell the roses.
  • I’ve also learnt to say no, when I would normally say yes to the detriment of my own wellbeing.
  • That I look forward to being able to travel overseas again.
  • That I love what I do for a living.
  • A total appreciation of being healthy.

In a nutshell, that’s it.

I have decided to look at the positive in things when sometimes it can be totally overwhelming.  By doing this, it’s made life so much better for me and I feel totally content and happy with my life.

I hope that 2022 is a year where you also feel content and that you get to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve.

That you appreciate all the little things because they’re far more important than the big things.

Love & light
