Doing the re-branding exercise made me realise something. It made me think about those hidden messages that we give out, not just body language but also things like colour, our style of clothing, because all of us are constantly walking around living your brand. You don’t have to be in business to give out hidden messages, I’m talking every day stuff.

And yes, I know you’re probably sitting there thinking that ‘people shouldn’t judge a book by its cover’ and no, we shouldn’t, but it’s more about who we are drawn to, who we feel we can trust.  For example, if you see someone walking around in a clown’s outfit you’re going to automatically think that they’re funny, or if you see a person in a suit then you immediately think of them as being in business, possibly someone that is confident. But it’s more than that, if the clown’s outfit was all browns and blacks, would you still think that they were as funny? If the person in that suit was walking along hunched over, would you still think of them as confident?

I doubt you would, well, I know I wouldn’t! Doing my re-branding I told Sam that I love peonies (flower) I have no idea why, they aren’t a reminder of a grandmother or anything like that, my nanna grew beautiful roses and gerbera’s and I love them too and another Nanna had hydrangea’s all around her house so I love them, but I love them because of the memory that is associated with them.  However I am just drawn to peonies and even have a silk bouquet in my office …… what kind of blew me away was when we looked up the meaning of a peony for my brand:

“Remember how your actions reflect on yourself and others, and always strive to act honorably and respectfully. Don’t be afraid to apologize if you make a mistake, and share your love with others to improve their lives as well.”

I was amazed that I was drawn to a flower that totally embodies all that I believe! When we looked up hydrangea and gerbera the meanings just weren’t in align with me but the Peony well, what more can I say!

So, this week, I would love you to take a moment and think about yourselves and in this instance, what flower you are drawn to, not because of the memories that are associated with it, but just because… and then look up the meaning of that flower and see if it fits in with who you are.
