I know that a lot of people are of the belief that you should never give up, I’m not one of them.  When I go walking I see people wearing those T-shirts with Never, never, never give up.   I truly believe that there are times when you do have to give up, when it just isn’t worth going on, because you’re just going around and around in circles.  But that the time to do that is when you have tried all the possibilities, thought about all the consequences and when you realise that what you are doing just isn’t in your best interests anymore, it’s not about ‘giving up’ it’s about being wise enough to realise when enough is enough and that it has come to the point where you are just wasting energy and being stubborn by not moving on.

Whether this applies to a job, project or a relationship is irrelevant, you know at some point when things just continue to not go the way that you had hoped that you have to be brave enough to say, ‘I did my best’ and let it go.

If you just keep at it and keep at it without getting a different result all you are doing is making yourself stagnant in that particular spot with no hope of ever moving forward.

So, take whatever you can from that situation, the things that you have discovered about yourself and others, learn from it and move onto the next phase in your life.  It doesn’t mean you are a failure, it means that you were wise enough to know your limits, accept them and move on.
